Rihanna released her new beauty line called Fenty Beauty ("N" is backwards on the Fenty) this month. The new line can be purchased at Sephora's all over. Beauty lovers (or just people who love them some Ri-Ri) piled themselves into Sephora stores everywhere just to catch a glimpse or to touch and experience the new makeup products.
I love me some Ri-Ri, but I generally do not rush to purchase products or anything that is labeled by any celebrity. What peeked my interest in the Fenty Beauty line was the fact that it has a variety of shades that are just not available in a lot of other product lines, for women of color. I stalked the reviews on different websites and such, just to see what people were saying. Of course, there was NO way that I was going to physically head over to the nearest Sephora because: Crowds. I am NOT a person who enjoys waiting in lines, surrounded by huge crowds of people who are ready to punch the lights out on anyone who stands in between them and their Fenty!!!... No seriously, I ended up going online and to my surprise, the next day after the release of the line, nothing was sold out!! So, for that, I have to commend Ri-Ri. Y'all remember (or read about) how Kylie's (Kylie Jenner- Kardashian sister) site crashed due to all of the heavy traffic on her site during the releasing of her products! This launch was handled very professionally. Ri-Ri took the time to take EVERY woman in EVERY shade into consideration, while carefully crafting this beauty line of hers. For that, I give her MUCH props!!! *insert applause* ******AngieFace free beauty tip: If you don't know your shade, use some natural lighting (outdoor lighting on a sunny day, while being indoors. just stand by a window. no filters!) take a picture and look to see what you undertones are (i.e. yellow, olive, red, etc.). That will help you to decide what shade is right for you.****** So, yesterday I finally got my package of Fenty. It was packaged very nicely. (See pictures below). I got the liquid foundation in the shade 400. Now, here are my thoughts on purchasing liquid foundation shades online when you have no idea about the new product line: The only thing that saved me was the fact that Sephora has a way that you can filter out to see only the reviews of people who share your same skin tone. So I did that and found my fellow Fenty loving sister's who rock "deep" skin tones. Most of their reviews said that the pictures on the Sephora site was very deceiving. I found one fellow sister who rocks my same deep skin tone say that she thought she was a shade "420" in the liquid foundation, however she found out that she was a "400" shade instead. Then she had a picture of herself wearing it! BAM! That sister saved my life with that review! Come through for us deep shaded sisters!! **ALWAYS DO REVIEWS!!!** I wore the liquid foundation today (see my picture below) and so far it has been holding up! I picked my perfect match (Thanks to my natural makeup artist instincts/good eye, and also my special cosmetology training). Now, the liquid foundation has a soft matte finish to it. This means that you will need to make sure that you moisturize and exfoliate very well. If you have dry skin, especially! My skin feels tight but not to the point where I can't move my face, it's a nice firm feeling. It blends very well into my skin. I used a moistened beauty blender to apply it. I also purchased the highlighters. Love them! They are versatile and can be applied anywhere on the face, which is convenient for the minimalist who just doesn't want to have a product for each facial feature. The pricing was not bad at all! Under $40 is great for the quality product. The packaging was nice. The product is high-quality feeling. Sizing of each product is nice, I didn't feel jipped by the portions. So, that's my review. I will see how all of this works out but so far, I am very impressed with the Fenty Beauty line. Go Ri-Ri, Go Ri-Ri!!! Check what I got, in the pics below. Grab the Fenty Beauty at any Sephora.com or store.
